Happy birthday at childcare!

Today Mama So brought this cake to Xuan's childcare centre:

and sat there among the other kids like a big kid!

We sang birthday song, and we (I) blew the candles!

Mama So haven't had so much fun cutting cake in a looooong time~


Teacher made her give me a cake first. So sweet~


And then we both have a cake to eat together~

Melody sat next to her best friend Aiqi while everyone ate their cake messy-ly. The clean freak in me got a little traumatized...So this is the everyday life of the childcare teachers- cleaning cleaning cleaning...

And these are the party bags that Mama and Papa So prepared the day before. I sneaked out of the centre before she could give the bags out. There's a balloon, star stickers, one jelly, one yougart sweet, Baby Bites biscuit and a small packet of mashmellows in it~~ Hope all the kids like it! I tried to be as healthy and fun as possible~ :):) More cakes to come tmr and next week on Xiang's birthday!

My girl friend commented that she has never seen him cry or whine. On the other hand, she has never seen Xuan NOT cry or whine...hahaha, well, different personalities I guess...

My little girl has a thing about putting stuff on her head...Like antlers...

and diapers... Clean one of course...

The new Boon Lay extension is up, so Mama took little girl to ride from Pioneer -> Joo Koon -> Pioneer. Her smile is a little scary... :P

We also saw Thomas at Jurong Point! (No that's not us in the picture with Thomas :P )


Funny how someone so small in size has to take up such a big and expensive seat...

Xuan on my right thigh, Chern on my right arm and left thigh, Papa is driving...This is why baby no.3 is not very possible...no more legs haha

Little Colin has reached one of his first milestones :):) (Notice that I'm not as excited as before...Still, I'm very very happy :) He can flip!)

Xuan has been watching Seseme Street Beginning Together series, Bedtime Stories, Mr Men, 十万个为什么 almost every night now, and notice she has a little companion straining at all odds to watch tv with her... -_-"

One of Mama So's favourite...the serenity of a baby sleeping peacefully... :) I would give everything to keep him at this stage...watch him sleep like that...

I look at Xuan differently when she sleeps now. How fast they grow up...

Reading

She's reading the book off memory, she can't read the words yet. Papa So read it so many times to her that she memorized it. We borrowed baby books that are rather repetitive so that it's easy for her to catch on. The library doesn't have a lot of Chinese books but we take whatever that they have. Parents, it's really not that hard to teach Chinese to your kids.

On the other hand, I bought a whole book shelf of Barney story books and encyclopedia that my mom bought for me when I was young (!), and she doesn't seem to be very patient with me reading English books to her. Hmmmm. Other than the fact that he can't move at all, Colin is more patient with me :P I read the entire pamphlet on allergy and pneumococcal bacteria to him at the clinic the other day. I once read a car magazine to Xuan while waiting at some other clinic when she was younger... Her teacher at childcare mentioned that she seem to have lost a little interest when they sing recently cos she's already learnt everything. That's going to be a problem too...

Melody's stadium routine

When she was younger we used to just sit down on the track and play with the "粗粗的". You know, pluck out little bits of the track... :P Then we'll walk up the entire grandstand and look at people run. Now she runs around the field...

Then we'll climb up the stairs...

Sit down at the highest point of the stadium, look at the world go by...the stars...

Then climb all the way down again...

Sometimes we repeat the climbing up and down a couple of times more, only that it becomes me carrying her down cos she's too tired to move liao~ :P

Little boy

My little boy is sensitive to the camera. He can be laughing, coo-ing, and when the camera is in front of him, he stares.

One of the best conversation I've ever had.

Cheeky Melody

Little little girl was very coorperative when she went for her haircut last week. Totally quiet and still, and I'm not complaining. Then one morning she kept asking me to 盖衣服 and I didn't know what she was talking about, but she was very happy to be wrapped up like this and now I think she found the idea of being "wrapped up" in the hairdresser's to be a novelty?

Can Xuan brush her teeth already? Not so much, she's actually biting the bristles and sucking the edible children's toothpaste :S

Xuan reading

Xuan has been taught to recognise 大小人不火and now the following too. She's capable of reading more but I haven't been following up with teaching her more words...Her "education" is kinda random and has stalled at the moment cos we're busy with accomplishing the daily stuff like eating, cleaning up, packing...

Pacifier

We were quite proud to tell people that Xuan didn't use a pacifier, and didn't plan to buy one for Chern too, but he is sucking his knuckle so much that nasty rashes has surfaced on both his hands :(:(

Teachers at infant care tell me that he sucks his knuckles when he is drifting off to sleep, and will "spit out" his hand when he does fall asleep. So, to protect my little boy's delicate skin...

Xuan was very against it at first - "弟弟不可以吃奶嘴！" Now I only give him his pacifier when he is sleepy and "looking for" his fist to suck. He does spit the pacifier out after he falls asleep. Hopefully the teachers at infant care don't let him suck the pacifier all the time to quieten him.

Doctor Melody

Look how seious both Melody and Colin are.

Melody is thinking: "I want to take didi's temperature like the way my teachers do." Colin is thinking: "What are u doing??" We think that he'd probably be at the mercy of Doctor Melody So until he can move to defend himself.

Botanical Gardens

It was a fine morning and a good day to go to the Botanical Gardens. A couple of bird watchers had their super big and pro cameras all set up, lenses pointing up at a tree and about to shoot some amazing photos when the following happened:

All the birds flew away. The bird-lovers could only look dejectedly at one another, and carried their heavy cameras to another spot. Sorry guys!

Scene 2: A Causasian couple was enjoying the serenity, reading their papers when a hurried "SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!" startled them.

Looking up, they commented, "What a good way to track an active child!" Haha, Mama So had intended to buy a pair of silent shoes but there were too many people at Bata that day, plus Xuan was rather grouchy that day to choose properly.

We went on to feed the fish. Xuan is very generous with her fish food (bread), sometimes tearing too big a piece for the fish to swallow. And we saw a HUGE soft shell turtle! (鳖bie1)

On to the grass patch...and run like the wind!

Innate sisterly love :):) The Pooh bear is given to Chern by Xuan, which is her favourite bedtime buddy, cos he was crying. And the Pooh bear, coincidently, is a souvenior from LA Disneyland which was bought during Papa and Mama's honeymoon trip :):)

She can climb the ladders quite confidently now. Toyed with the idea of enroling her in Tumbletots but lazy mommy thinks that playground and rolling on the bed is good enough :P
